"Making templates was a natural inclination. My Mother taught me to sew at an early age, and my BFA was in fashion design. That included 3 ½ years of pattern making and draping. Matisse is one of my favorite artists. His story has always inspired me. When he became confined to a wheel chair, he switched gears and created paper cuttings. I have one rule when cutting templates. NO pencils to draw with. Cutting individual animals parts allows me freedom to play around with placement. Once I find personality and action in the animal parts, I tape them together and play with arranging composition."
