The Art Spirit Gallery is proud to open a new show--Elaine Green & Cary Weigand: Charcoal & Porcelain with a reception on Friday, August 10 from 5-8 in conjunction with the 2nd Friday Downtown ArtWalk.  This show runs August 10-September 8.  Everyone is welcome!

On Saturday, August 11, Elaine Green will give a charcoal drawing demonstration in the gallery from 1-4.  This is a great opportunity to see her techniques of adding and subtracting to build gorgeous, rich tonal drawings.

About the Artists:

Elaine Green is a Northwest artist whose work has been included in numerous exhibits throughout the region including the Boise Art Museum, Utah State University, and Clatsop Community College in Astoria.  Green was born in St. Maries, Idaho, in 1958. After studying art at Spokane Falls Community College and Eastern Washington University, Green earned her MFA from the University of Idaho in 2005. She has been an art instructor in the Spokane area, and served most recently as adjunct faculty with the Department of Art and Design at the University of Idaho.  The Art Spirit Gallery has been proud to represent Elaine since 2005.

Cary Weigand was born and raised in Hawaii (6th generation) where she also earned her BFA and MFA from the University of Hawaii in 2003. In 2006 she received a grant from The George Sugarman Foundation for sculpture. Weigand has been featured on Oregon Art Beat, her work has been published in Ceramics Technical and she was awarded one of Ceramics Monthly’s Emerging Artists for 2011. She lives and works in southern Oregon. We are excited to offer Cary’s first featured show at The Art Spirit Gallery.
